Michele has served MDOT for over 29 years, specializing in advanced transportation technologies. As Manager for MDOT’s Metro Region Connected, Automated, and Electrified Vehicles Unit, she excels in project planning, implementation, and execution, leading initiatives that enhance safety, mobility, and sustainability. Michele's expertise spans Intelligent Transportation Systems and Connected, Automated, and Electrified Vehicles. Mueller works closely with varying stakeholders spanning non-profit, corporations, government, and academia. Part of Michele’s work includes fostering these partnerships into real-world deployments. She has managed over 40 projects, with direct collaboration with OEM’s (Original Equipment Manufacturers), Tier 1 and 2 auto suppliers, software and hardware developers, and solution providers. Recently, she has been awarded two FMCSA commercial vehicle grants focused on Connected and Automated Work Zones, co-manages the Connected and Automated Vehicle corridor with CAVNUE, and leads the deployment of America’s first wireless charging electric road. Mueller is a graduate of Our Lady of the Lakes High School and Michigan Technological University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. She actively participates on various boards including ITSA committees, standards and interoperability bodies, and USDOT committees. Mueller and her husband, Rick, have two children and live in White Lake, Michigan.
