Biography

Dr. Austin Brown is the Director of the Vehicle Technologies Office at the Department of Energy. As Director, he leads research, development, demonstration, and deployment of efficient and clean mobility options that are affordable for all Americans. Prior his federal service, Austin served as Executive Director of the Policy Institute for Energy, Environment, and the Economy at the University of California, Davis. He also served in Washington, DC at the Department of Energy, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and as Assistant Director for Clean Energy and Transportation at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. He has a B.S. from Harvey Mudd College and a Ph.D. from Stanford University.
