Biography

P.T. Jones is a technical consultant and project manager with nearly 3 decades of experience in vehicle Research & Development (R&D) and extensive program and operations management. He has led complex projects requiring complete vehicle and transportation system integration and manufacturing responsibility, as well as focused powertrain technology integration and transportation systems analysis. Mr. Jones began his career in vehicle powertrain integration and automotive emissions certification & compliance testing. He supported vehicle development and production at General Motors for 9 years in areas of alternative fuel systems, vehicle structures and NVH, powertrain integration & testing and in program management for advanced/alternative powertrain competitions (now called EcoCAR). Mr. Jones has supported vehicle and transportation R&D for the DOE’s Vehicle Technologies Office (VTO) since 2009. While at ORNL he has led research projects related to electric propulsion for postal vehicles, Green Racing, wireless charging and studied the potential impact at the vehicle and the transportation systems level. He is currently the operating agent for IEA (International Energy Agency) tasks on electrified roadways as well as port electrification impacts on freight movement and currently supports the VTO’s Energy Efficient Mobility Systems (EEMS) program at the DOE.
