Biography

Matthew Thomas is a senior vice president of Kiewit Power Engineering (KPE). In his current role, he leads the KPE Engineering and Consulting Services organization and has operational and sales responsibility for the Generation Services, Renewables, Field Inspection Services, and Electrification business lines.

Thomas joined Kiewit in 2001. His first assignments were in engineering, conceptual design and engineering supervision for combined cycle gas plant projects. He later served as engineering and engineering project manager on multiple projects, including the Walnut Creek Energy Park and Scattergood Unit 3 Repowering Project. He oversaw engineering services, including design, procurement, training and testing for these projects.

In 2014, Thomas was promoted to estimating mechanical department manager, with overall responsibility for quality, budget and staffing for all mechanical estimating functions for engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning. In 2016, he was promoted to manager of power estimating with oversight of all of Kiewit’s power estimating. Thomas was promoted to senior vice president of KPE in 2018.

Thomas holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Kansas and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis.
